Autumn treats
The heat is subsiding and autumn has finally arrived!
Japan has a wonderful relationship with autumn from delicious food, over a myriad of autumn festivals to stunning foliage.
Many countries celebrate autumn and depending on where you are from, autumn might mean to harvest apples, pears, grapes, berries, wheat and pumpkins, walk in colourful woods, craft with acorns, leaves and chestnuts, let kites fly on a windy day, see a hedgehog hide or eat seasonal food like mushrooms, persimmons, sweet chestnuts and sweet potatoes.
Autumn comes in many colours and shapes !
To tune into the autumn food mood, the children role played a lot in our class kitchen, making a variety of bentos and cut different fruit and vegetables. They really took to the cutting practice and tried again and again.
Perseverance is the key to success.
We also watched a beautiful traditional German autumn song called, “Der Herbst, der Herbst, der Herbst ist da…. and looked at some of the fruits autumn provides.
Ms.Anita bought some autumn treats in the form of apples, grapes, chestnuts and bagels with berries.
The Pre-Kindergarten children showed their cutting skills and then enjoyed the delicious food very much.
The class was very excited to hear about the harvest of the sweet potatoes which they had planted previously.
Together with K1 and K2 we took our blue buckets, marched to the nearby field,
listened to Ms.Kameda’s instructions, pulled and dug a lot and then marvelled at how big the sweet potatoes were again this year.
The children were very proud of their harvest and we can’t wait baking the sweet potatoes next week together with all of our friends from Pre-Kindergarten and EY.
We ended the week with a celebration for Elias 3.Birthday and some very yummy treats in form of homemade banana muffins. They were delicious, thank you, Ms.Johanna!
A very happy birthday to Elias, we were so happy to celebrate with you!
Lieber Elias, du bist jetzt drei Jahre alt und so gross geworden! Wir haben uns sehr gefreut mit dir deinen Geburtdtag feiern zu können.
Ich wünsche Ihnen / euch ein sonniges Herbstwochenende!
