Pre-KG 2022/ 23 Blog 4
Moving about & Moving ahead with the DSKI Oktoberfest
The Pre-Kindergarten children are always on the move and as stated in my last blog movement is really the key to a healthy development.
The large school outside area provides plenty of space for activities and the children can connect some of their play to their current unit. At present the Pre-KG children are learning about colours and shapes, so they enjoyed an altered version of hopscotch jumping into different shapes of different colours.
In addition to playing in our big and very nice school backyard, the Pre-Kindergarten go out and about whenever they have a chance and explore playgrounds or nearby facilities on Rokko Island.
These outings make the children physically stronger and create good opportunities for overcoming challenges as well as working on their team work skills.
One wonderful place to work together and learn about life cycles as well is the nearby field where we grow tulips and sweet potatoes. The Early Years children had previously planted the little seedlings and now they were able to enjoy harvesting sweet potatoes with their friends from K1 and K2. They had lots of fun and were astonished at the size of some of the potatoes. We hope we can bake and eat them together soon !
As autumn is arriving now, we are looking forward to plenty of outdoor activities and also our DSKI Oktoberfest on Saturday, 8th October 2022, that has been revived just for the school community this year.
Here is to blue skies, cheerful songs, fun games, yummy food, exciting Tombola prizes and a wonderful day with family, friends and teachers !
Auf Wiedersehen und viel Spass bei unserem Oktoberfest !
Yours,
Anita Ursula Mönch
