FAMILY - connection and love

Everyone in Pre-Kindergarten loves their family.

Ever since we started to talk about the subject of family in class, the Pre-Kindergarten children love role playing with the dolls, cooking for them and setting up different scenarios as families with them every day.

The children also enjoy playing family in our card box house.

Additionally, the children are talking more about the activities they do with their family, so last weekend there was a visit to the Vissel Kobe soccer game with the whole family, pool and park time with mum and ball games with grandma.

As books are a wonderful tool to learn more about our subjects, I chose some books with family adventures in them and the children were attentive listeners and very absorbed in the stories. Thank you, Mr.David and Ms.Miho for reading to the children as well!

Our school bus book features a scene were parents visit the school for the children’s theater play and this page was of special interest to the Pre-Kindergarten children.

Since Corona restrictions are now eased a little, we could hold our SLC (student led conferences ) on site and the children were very excited about the news that the parents would come and look at what they had learned and made in class.

The children helped setting up the different SLC stations!

On the day, they greeted their families with a nice cup of tea.

Some children were a little shy at first, but everyone contributed and showed their parents the progress they had made.

Thank you to all the parents who could come! It was very nice seeing you in our Pre-Kindergarten rainbow classroom.

One of our stations at the SLC was talking about the family and the multi layered generation wooden puzzle was very popular (great job, everyone!)!

The children later used their much beloved Play Dough to create family members faces and one of our little girls made all of her family members, including the grandparents !

This week our class had also some additional connections to families.

Emma’s daddy was away on a lengthy business trip and she missed him very much, so she made him a heartwarming ”Welcome back” card.

Then the children received a special treat which came in the form of delicious cookies that Mamoru’s mum had brought from her business trip to France. Merci beaucoup, Madame Tsujii !

I will also read the enchanting French books in class soon !

Finally, my own daughter Hanna helped out as an assistant in our classroom on two different days and even though the children have met her, they are always fascinated by the fact that I have such a big child.

Hanna is very fond of children and she enjoyed playing and teaching them about families and the body.

The children especially loved the water play on these warm days, using their hands for catching fish with a net and then cooling down their feet (and more) in the mini pool.

Lots of laughter and splashing was heard !

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, with love from the Pre-Kindergarten Rainbow Room !

Yours,

Anita Ursula Mönch
